The
Stewards Fund Awards The Healing Place $100,000 Challenge Grant
Raleigh—Through
the end of the calendar year, The Healing Place of Wake County has a strong incentive to identify new
donors because the Stewards Fund is providing a $100,000 challenge grant
that will match individual gifts from
new donors. If The Healing Place raises $100,000 from brand new donors
by December 31, 2007, the challenge will have been met and an additional
$100,000 from the Stewards fund will be donated to The Healing Place--a
shelter, recovery and rehabilitation facility for homeless people with
alcohol and drug addictions
“Since the doors
to The Healing Place first opened seven years ago, we have had a very
generous and loyal set of donors,” said Dennis Parnell, Executive
Director of The Healing Place. “One of our major goals for 2007 was to
broaden that loyal base of support and reach new donors with our message
of innovative recovery programs that work. With over 70 percent of our
clients still sober a year after they graduate, we truly “help people
find their way back” from homelessness and addiction. With the Stewards
Fund challenge grant, new donors will be an even greater force in
reducing the destructive impacts of two major social problems:
homelessness and addiction.”
The Stewards Fund,
administered out of Raleigh, NC, provides funding for organizations in
the human services field. In addition to this grant, private employers
and organizations often have additional matching gift programs that
would increase the impact of funds from these new donors even more. All
contributions to The Healing Place are tax-deductible.
About The
Healing Place
The Healing Place of Wake County is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) recovery
and rehabilitation facility for homeless people with alcohol and drug
dependency. The Men’s Center opened its doors in January 2001, and the
Women’s Center began operation in January 2006. At the beginning of
2007, over 6200 men and women have been provided with more than 360,000
beds of shelter. We have also provided thousands of recovery classes and
meetings. Approximately 70% of the graduates from our program, with a
year of post-discharge sobriety, are still sober. The Healing Place of
Wake County is built on the principles of the highly successful Healing
Place in Louisville KY, which received the 1998 US Department of Health
Resources and Service Administration “Models That Work Award” in
recognition of the success of the program. Visit us on the web at
