PRESS RELEASE
SAS Show Choir Performances
to Raise Money for The Healing Place
CARY, N.C. (Feb 9, 2008) – Ride along on a musical journey filled with high-energy singing and dancing as VocalMotion, the SAS show choir, presents their 16th annual show, Life Is A Highway. This year’s performance will be presented March 13-16 in the Building V auditorium at SAS. Audience members of all ages will enjoy a variety of pop, country, and classic rock ‘n roll hits from artists such as Bon Jovi, Styx, Rascal Flatts, Elvis, and The Contours. They will also take a tour of Broadway with tunes from shows such as A Chorus Line, The Wiz, and Dreamgirls. And no one will be able to resist tapping along to their favorite ABBA songs set to stunning choreography as the show choir presents a medley from the hit musical Mamma Mia!
In addition to the performances at SAS, VocalMotion will take its show on tour throughout the spring to retirement communities, festivals, and other events. In January, the group presented a preview of its upcoming show to a packed house and an overwhelming response at the grand opening of the Halle Cultural Arts Center of Apex.
Each year, VocalMotion supports a charitable or nonprofit organization via donations collected at the annual performances. Last season, the group raised over $6,000 for Fisher House of Fort Bragg. The 2008 performances will benefit The Healing Place™ of Wake County (www.hpowc.org), a non-profit 501 (c) (3) recovery and rehabilitation facility for homeless people with alcohol and drug dependency. Dennis Parnell, Executive Director of The Healing Place, stated, “We are so pleased that VocalMotion selected The Healing Place as the nonprofit they will support in 2008. With over 60 percent of our clients still sober a year after they graduate, we truly ‘help people find their way back.’ It is support from individuals and organizations like VocalMotion that allow us to implement our programs and break the cycle of alcoholism and drug addiction that often runs in families.” As an added treat, former SAS Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Barrett Joyner, who now serves as the Development Director of The Healing Place of Wake County, will be on stage to open each performance.
VocalMotion’s performances at SAS are Thursday through Saturday, March 13-15, at 7 pm, and Sunday, March 16, at 3 pm in the Building V auditorium. SAS is located in Cary on Harrison Avenue near the I-40 exit. For directions or more information about VocalMotion, visit www.vocalmotion.org or call 677-8000, ext. 43236.
