RALEIGH, N.C. -- Quilters and sewing enthusiasts are donating handmade pillowcases to The Healing Place of Wake County. Raleigh quilting shop, Wish Upon A Quilt, initiated the year-long pillowcase drive in response to the "Make A Million Pillowcases" challenge issued this year by American Patchwork and Quilting.

Nov 1, 2009    The Healing Place Shelter Participates in the Cold Weather “White Flag” Program
Raleigh NC— The Healing Place of Wake County and other organizations providing shelter for homeless individuals extend their services during cold weather months (November through March) by implementing the "White Flag" system. When the temperatures are below freezing a white flag event is called and designated homeless shelters provide capacity beyond the norm.

While a turbulent economic year is drawing to a close, The Healing Place of Wake County has a strong incentive to obtain new and increased gifts from individuals and organizations. This incentive is due to the Stewards Fund providing a $100,000 challenge grant that will match end of the year contributions from new donors.
